If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Response: If I had to write a poem about my life right now it would probably be about being tired. I would say exhaustion and sleep are a bit of a blanket over my everyday right now. I've been sleeping a lot recently and it really seeps into my days. I also think sleep is a very poetic thing to talk about and the way it effects me. A poem would probably express the feeling best and I think it really fits my life currently. Summary: Took notes on writing rhetorical analysis. Reflection: The notes were pretty interesting. I'm excited to start working on more rhetorical analysis.

When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Response: When I am in a bad mood I tend to watch YouTube or play games to distract myself from my mood. When I'm feeling especially sad or angry it really helps to watch something funny or earnest to calm me down and remind me about all the nice things in my life I am grateful for. If Im in a situation where I cant or don't feel like watching YouTube or the like I tend to just talk to myself and logic my way out of my mood. This can help especially when I am angry because it lets me calmly process my emotions and think through how to be better about managing them. Summary: Today in class we did some commonlit assignments. Reflection: The commonlit assignments really opened my eyes to the positives of social interaction. Both articles made me really think about how much hanging out with my friends really improves my overall health.

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Response: My personal approach to creativity is messing around and finding out. I throw a lot of stuff at the wall and try to figure out what will work. I will be honest, I don't really have a super strict step by step list I follow when it comes to creative projects. Most of my ideas come as spur of the moment lightbulbs instead of a structured thing. I like to draw and we have done a lot of creative projects in my Drawing class at school here. We have done projects from inking to collages and its hard to choose one of my favorites. I would say I really like the project where I created a block print in class. Summary: We did a writable assignment on Vocab Unit 8 Reflection: I found the classwork really interesting. While the story was confusing and wordy I was able to understand it well enough to get a much better grasp on the vocabulary words.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Response: I have found procatalepsis a really effective type of rhetorical device. It works well to look well prepared, being able to predict possible arguments shows a lot of depth and understanding of what you are discussing which makes you more credible. The use of procatalepsis also shuts down certain objections, the writer is able to explain their topic further in depth and get rid of certain questions that may be raised, effectively nipping some room for doubt in the bud. Summary: We took a test on rhetorical devices. Reflection: I have a pretty good grasp on rhetorical devices but I still have some more to learn and better hone my understanding.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Response: Out of the words we learned today, gibberish really sat with me. I find the word funny and really familiar. I remember hearing it and finding the pronunciation so funny and always repeating it to myself over and over. Seeing it today reminded me of the time I first learned it some time in elementary. I do not remember exactly how or where I learned it but I remember it being in the library and having to ask a teacher or the librarian what it meant. Summary: We completed vocabulary lesson 7 Reflection: Some of these words were really interesting to learn. I was also surprised to find some advanced words that I have known for such a long time, like I never think of gibberish as a complex word.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Response: I feel the most at peace in my house, especially my bedroom. When I am at my own home I feel comfortably displaced from the world around me. When in my house I don't have to worry about people watching me or maybe the place being unsanitary. My room especially gives this sense of peace and calm because I know that it is a place all to myself that I get to decorate and do what I want. I get to be surrounded by things that I like and that are familiar and that makes me feel at peace. Summary: We took notes on a couple more rhetorical devices. Reflection: I found these two devices in particular really interesting. I never really thought about Distinctos before but now I really cannot stop noticing how often I use them.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Response: I have had to rely on my parents for transportation for a long time. It feels pretty uncomfortable. I dont really like the feeling of total dependency to get around. Having to always ask for a ride somewhere or needing to wait to be picked up makes me feel useless and way too dependent on the whim of other people. I am glad I will be getting my licence soon so I will not have to rely so heavily on my parents to drive me around whenever I want to go out of the house. Summary: We analyzed a speech for different rhetorical devices. Reflection: I found using a real world example to analyze rhetorical devices

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Response: Within highschool I have learned more about speaking in class and thinking for my own. I have had a lot of amazing teachers that encourage insight and creative thought. These traits will help me become more independent and able to rely on myself with an awareness of the world around me. This is something I really value as a person because complacency can lead to things quickly falling apart. As teachers encouraged more autonomy and independent thought I was able to figure out my own ideals and how to take care of myself. This lets me really figure out my own way in life. Summary: We took even more notes on rhetorical devices. Reflection: I hadn't realized there were so many different rhetorical devices. I find it so interesting to delve into the many specifics of persuasion.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Response: I have taken hiatus from certain friendships in the past. There have been various reasons or frustrations and honestly I think those were good choices because taking a break from hanging out with them gave me some time to reconstruct myself as well as our friendship. This reflection period lets me come back and be more open, honest and also a lot less angry at them. I think brief breaks can really help to understand yourself outside and within the context of the friendship which can lead to you becoming a better person and more comfortable in the relationship/ Summary: We took more notes on rhetorical devices. Reflection: I am finding these devices really interesting to learn about. They are extremely common in day to day life and I think it is important to be able to identify them.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Response: The amount of notes we took today was a mile long! I would say the extremely common phrases we learned in class today we may use every once in a while. I wouldn't regret learning more about rhetorical devices. Summary: Took notes on hyperbole, understatement and litotes. Reflection: I found these really interesting to learn about. I use these devices all the time in day to day life so it is useful to actually put a name to it.

In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you

Response: I had a very fun winter break and I did a lot. Me and my family spent the better bit of a week road tripping up to Illinois to visit my family up there. On the way we stayed in Tennessee for a while and got to see a show at the Opry stage and then on the way back we also visited my Aunt in Kentucky. I also spent a lot of the break playing video games and spending time with some of my friends. Summary: Worked on a writable assignment about our resolutions. Reflection: This writable assignment really had me reflect on what I wanted out of this year. This really made me think through how I would accomplish my goals in the new year. Writable assignment:  My first goal for the new year is to finish the year with all  As .   This goal is important for my academic future as it will look good  for  transcripts and raise my personal pride.   To do  this  I will study for my tests and work diligently on my classwork. I will have this done by...
